Mary Ross, BMT MTA

Having completed her undergraduate degree in music therapy with a minor in psychology, and acquired her certification as a music therapist, Mary has finally made the move back to her home town of Goderich and will be doing harp things once more in conjunction with the Huron Harp School and in partnership with Sharon Johnston.

Mary began playing the harp at age 12 when she inherited a Timothy harp from her grandmother, Mary Hearn. With a name and some big musical shoes to fill, Mary did pursue her post-secondary education in music, specifically music therapy. She left Goderich to study at Wilfrid Laurier University with harp instruction by Lori Gemmell, and Sharlene Wallace, this was also where she met Clayton. Mary and Clayton married in the summer of 2015 and stayed in Kitchener while Mary finished school, graduating in June of 2016. She then completed her 1000 hour internship of music therapy at Sunnyside home in Kitchener under supervision of Kristen Falkenburger, BMT, MTA.

Mary and Clayton have set up a music studio in Goderich where they teach Celtic/folk harp, classical harp, music theory, group lessons, piano, guitar, percussion, drums, and some band instruments. Mary continues her education by pursuing her MA in Theology, Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Luther College at Laurier.
